After a long winter, I’m always ready to shed some layers, and this year’s rough weather made me especially itchy for a change. At the top of the list for my new look was undoubtedly a new diaper bag, as my old one was unraveling and a bottomless pit of crumbs, mismatched socks and discarded toys.
My hope for my new carryall was an option that didn’t outwardly appear to be a diaper bag. I’m three kids in and while I’m completely in love with being “Mom,” I’d prefer not being labeled one solely based on my choice of accessories. Style was a key component, as was finding an option that my husband wouldn’t hate carrying when needed.
As soon as I saw the timi & leslie Kate Convertible Bag, I knew it fit the bill. Its sleek black and saddle tones wouldn’t scare my husband away, and read “sophisticated polish” to me. I love the option to throw it over my shoulder in those grab-it-and-go situations, or to tote with free hands as a cross body bag, depending on my changing needs. The vegan faux leather outer (PVC free) is well made, soft to the touch, and very easy to wipe clean when the needed. There are also three outside pockets which are perfect for quickly stashing my personal items and keys.
The Kate bag’s interior features a water resistant lining, as well as six pockets to help you organize all of those must-have items. While roomy, it is not as big as the previous diaper bags I’ve carried, and I find myself sorting and weeding out items regularly to avoid the overstuffed look. For me, this has been a huge pro to carrying this bag. I can pack the kids up for the day, feeling confident that we have everything inside that we could possibly need, and even better…I now know where it is! Just being able to leave the 4^th pair of “extra” toddler underwear at home has been a much needed breath of fresh air. I also love the attached key fob (no more lost keys!), and that the interior is done in a light fabric, making it easy to peer in and find what you need immediately.
Some notable features of this bag are a matching changing pad with a diapers/wipes pocket, stroller straps, a detachable/adjustable shoulder strap, an insulated bottle holder, and a dirty clothes sack. All have been very useful, luxurious accompaniments to the Kate, and I now feel spoiled as my former diaper bags didn’t include many of these. I am particularly in love with the cute pouchette, which I have even carried on its own.
While out and about, I receive compliments on this bag often, from moms, dads, and even friends without kids. Some gush over my new “purse,” and others are in awe of it as a diaper bag, but all unanimously love the style, versatility, and functionality of the Kate. I couldn’t be happier carrying it.
I thought I might love it, but my initial expectations of the timi & leslie Kate Convertible Bag were blown away when I began using it. It has quickly become my go-to, every day diaper bag, and I can see myself continuing to sport it after my diaper bag days are over. It makes one gorgeous diaper bag or hand bag!
