When my son turned 4 he was at the appropriate weight and height to sit in a booster seat in the car.
We invested in a small booster seat, but he could not get comfortable if he wanted to take a nap. I also worried that the seatbelt was not properly positioned over his shoulder and on his lap. The First Years Compass B570 Pathway Booster has a tall back and headrests, which makes it much easier for my son to take a nap if he gets tired, and the seat has many features which makes it simple to see that the belt is properly positioned.

There are visual aids along with the written instructions, and the pictures are clear. The seat is one complete part, aside from the removable cups on the sides. The seat is able to be folded one-handed, making it easy to store or transfer car to car, and is quite light, weighing only 9 pounds.
The seat is equipped with LATCH lower anchors. These are non-adjustable and simple to fasten, making a noticeable click when properly attached. The purpose of the anchors are to keep the seat from becoming a projectile in the event of a crash when the child is not in the seat. The seat is meant to be used with a lap and shoulder belt system. All the belt guides are bright red, making them easy to locate when strapping your child in the seat. The headrest is adjustable to ensure the belt is properly located at or just above the child’s shoulders, and the shoulder belt guides are also able to adjust so that the belt is centered on the shoulder. The seat back is self-adjusting and will fit any vehicle’s seat back. It has been side-impact tested, and the deep headrest will contain and control the child’s head during a crash.
The seat is very tall, but not extremely wide. The only issue I have with the size is that I cannot see out of the back window of my vehicle when the seat is in the middle. It is a forward- facing seat meant for children ages 3 and up, 30 to 100 pounds and 38 to 57 inches tall. The padding of the seat can only be hand washed, but the pads are easy to remove and replace. One of my favorite features is the removable cups on either side of the seat—being removable makes them so easy to clean!
My son has truly enjoyed using this seat. Long car rides are much more comfortable for him and I no longer worry that his seatbelt is incorrectly positioned. I highly recommend this booster seat!
