On any given day, you’ll find the P&N editors working on a handful of different projects. Sometimes we’re prepping in the wardrobe closet for an upcoming photo shoot or creating a food spread at our studio. On another day, we might be out interviewing top experts on the newest pregnancy buzz or discussing the latest trends at our staff meeting. It’s a rare and beautiful occasion when we are all sitting still at our desks. Every few days, however, it does happen. And what we find is that while we are busy seeking out the newest products or researching the best baby skincare finds on the market, we will all pop in our headphones and jam out to our own tunes. (Our own resident flashdancer, Alyson West, occasionally interrupts our solo sessions for a group dance break, but that’s a whole other blog post!) So what are we listening to, you wonder? Here are the tunes that keep us sane on our most stressful day and keep us smiling right through to the afternoon. Lacey just can’t turn these tunes off: “Stubborn Love”—The Lumineers “Murder in the City”—The Avett Brothers “Lover of the Light”—Mumford and Sons “Litost”—The Ambassadors “The Captain”—Guster There’s a little country in all of us, but especially in Lauren’s I-Pod: “Wagon Wheel”—Dierks Bentley “Chicken Fried”—Zac Brown Band “Home”—Phillip Phillips “Mississippi Girl”—Faith Hill “Home”—Edward Sharpe & The Magnetic Zeros We couldn’t expect anything better from Steph’s finds: “Piratess”—Okkervil River “Rothko Chapel”—Morton Feldman Any song—Django Reinhardt “Higgs Boson Blues”—Nick Cave “Don’t You Want Somebody to Love”—Jefferson Airplane The way to Erin Shea Long’s heart is right through her ears: Any song—Bon Iver (anything, anytime, anywhere) “Take Ya’ Dancin'”—Say Hi To Your Mom (gettin’ pumped for 5 o’clock) “For Real”—Okkervil River (post-lunch, daydreaming of starring in a music video) “Lose Yourself”—Eminem (rehearsing for bucket list karaoke) “Back to December”—Taylor Swift (shameful pleasure) Rachel rocks out regularly to these awesome finds: “This Could All Be Yours”—Guster “Crash Years”—The New Pornographers “Murder In The City”—The Avett Brothers “All Will Be Well”—Gabe Dixon “Adulthood”—Jukebox the Ghost Alyson finds it hard to sit in her seat when these jams are jammin’: “This will be our year”—The Zombies “The Build-Up”—Kings of Convenience “Our house”—Madness “Lights”—Journey “I want to thank you”—Alicia Myers Here’s what’s rockin’ repeat on Tracy’s playlist: “All my days”—Alexi Murdoch “I love it”—Icona Pop (My summer jam!) “The deed and the dollar”—Shooter Jennings “Can’t hold us”—Macklemore and Ryan Lewis (Try to sit still, just try!) “Southern girl”—Amos Lee Sarah keeps it fresh in life and music: “Girls”—Marina and the Diamonds “E.
