On the move

There’s no better way to describe Isaac lately than “active”. This boy never stops moving, and is into everything he can find.
I used to wonder why parents would buy things like toilet locks. I mean, how hard is it to keep your kid from playing in the toilet? Turns out, harder than you’d think. I’ve yet to buy one, but I have learned to keep the door closed at all times, lest my little guy go exploring in the great white bowl.
It’s not just bathrooms. He found an open cabinet door yesterday and broke a glass dip bowl all over the kitchen floor. I thought maybe it would startle him. Nope. He looked at the pieces and smiled, thoroughly pleased with himself.
He empties the drawer with the placemats and bibs. He crawls in the pantry every chance he gets, looking for things to get into. The other day he ate a piece of cat food. Today he tried to drink his saline nose drops. He climbs the stairs. He licks the windowsills, and don’t even get me started on his obsession with every cord he can find. Vacuums, phone chargers and laptop cords are a constant source of fascination.
It is non-stop.
When he’s not getting into something, he’s clinging to my legs wanting to be held. Some days are absolutely exhausting. I can’t imagine what it will be like when he starts walking. Lord help me.
For now, I figure every day that doesn’t involve licking the toilet is a success.
