We recently moved to a new house, and with our transition to a new space, we made the decision for our little guy to move to his own big boy room. The change was terrifying for me. I very much preferred him to be snuggled up right beside our bed so that I could reach out to him in a moments notice. I was afraid that I wouldn’t be able to hear every whimper or to record every breath. But ultimately, we knew he couldn’t stay beside us forever and that now was a good a time as any to start the process.
There was no question that we were going to have to invest in a baby monitor, though—at the very least for my sanity’s sake. But the decision came with tons of questions. Should we do a video or audio monitor? How concerned were we about compact design? Should it blend into our decor? How much were we willing to pay? It was almost too hard to know where to start. That’s when a good friend of mine assured us that we would love the Mobi Pure Sounds Digital Audio Monitor. She promised it worked wonderfully, was lightweight, would blend perfectly with our decor and was, most importantly, cheap!
mobi pure sounds hero_0With all the rave reviews she gave us, we were definitely excited to try it out. So for our buddy’s first night in his room, I popped out the monitor and readied it for action. Assembly was a breeze because all you have to do is pop it out of the box and plug it into the wall. There is a smaller base (And I mean it’s really tiny compared to other bulky monitors) that plugs into your little one’s room and a slightly larger, more oval, piece that plugs into the wall in your own room. The larger piece is portable (and works on a rechargeable battery pack) so you can carry it through the house if you’re not quite ready to hit the hay yet. There’s even a belt clip for hands-free travel. And the range is fantastic for our home, it reaches over a 600 square foot area and the advanced “ pure sounds” technology allows the signals to be heard through walls, floors and ceilings. Another added bonus is that the system switches to an energy save mode when the power is low—meaning savings for the environment and savings for the ‘ol pocketbook. There’s even a belt clip for hands-free strolling. When the battery is getting low or I am approaching the “out of range” area, there’s a beep mechanism that alerts you so that you don’t need to worry about being too far away to hear your baby. There is really a clean crisp sound that comes through the monitor and no traffic from other devices or my neighbor’s phone conversations.
Here’s a rundown of the benefits:

  • Secure, private 2.4 GHz operation
  • Clear sound
  • 600 ft. operating range
  • Low battery & out-of-range alerts
  • Rechargeable NIMH monitor battery
  • Belt Clip included

But how does it work when baby’s asleep? Fantastic, I could still hear every cry and was able to jump to his side in no time. Now we are all sleeping soundly in our separate rooms thanks to the comfort of this monitor. If you’re looking for a relatively cheap, effective, top of the line product, then this monitor will be a perfect fit for your family.
