Ju-Ju-Be BeFabulous

If you haven’t started dropping hints about what you’d like for Mother’s Day yet, let me help you out—you want a Ju-Ju-Be Earth Leather bag. The new eco-friendly collection goes on sale today (which is, quite fittingly, Earth Day). I tried out the BeFabulous—aptly named, since it is rather fabulous—and let me just tell you, it is a fashionable mama’s dream come true.
Just what exactly is Earth Leather? It’s a material that looks almost exactly like real leather, but it’s animal- and earth-friendly. And, best of all … it’s machine washable! Gotta love that. You’d have to see it to believe it, but it really is an attractive, durable leather alternative that looks every bit as stylish as a real leather bag.
So we’ll start with looks, since to be honest, appearance is a big factor in choosing a diaper bag for most moms. (Yes, functionality is great, but nobody wants to carry a drab-looking diaper bag around town.) The BeFabulous is simply gorgeous, with beautiful hardware, chic leather-like exterior, sleek and smart design, and a funky wipeable interior. The bag is slightly larger on bottom so it won’t tip over (smart), and nickel feet keep it from sitting directly on a dirty floor. It’s available in brown or black.
So now that you know it’s worthy of your attentions, let’s move on to what makes it such a great diaper bag: It’s all in the details. The main compartment is spacious, and that bright, floral lining makes it easy to find what you’re looking for. I also love that it opens way, way up (all the way, in fact), so you can easily see and access everything inside. There are a few zipper pouches and pockets inside for optimal organization, although none of the pockets are insulated. (There are, however, two insulated pockets on the outside.)
On the front of the bag is a useful mommy pocket, which includes a key fob (how did they know I always lose my keys?), soft pocket for your sunglasses, and additional pouches (one zipper, two open). Above the mommy pocket is a fuzzy zippered pouch, perfect for protecting your phone or camera.
Turn it around, and there’s a large zipper pocket on the back with two pockets sized just right to hold diapers and wipes. And don’t forget the aforementioned insulated pockets, located on either side. This is a very well organized bag, and if you maximize its potential, you’ll be impressed with how easy it is to access exactly what you need without a lot of hassle.
The strap is adjustable, so you can size it just where you want it (long enough for messenger style, short enough for tote), and a shoulder pad is included for your comfort. It doesn’t include stroller attachments, but they can be purchased separately.
I will admit that the bag smelled a little funky when I took it out of the box—but I’m assuming that it’s just the material, and it freshened up rather quickly. The bag is lead- and PVC-free, so it’s not that new-shower-curtain smell that you get from a lot of diaper bags, but more of an earthy smell. I’m not sure how exactly to describe it, but like I said, it went away quickly, so overall it wasn’t a big deal.
I really like this bag and think that it’s a great addition to the Ju-Ju-Be line. There’s also a hobo style that I’ve got my eye on, so I’ve got my fingers crossed that my hubby takes the hint and surprises me with it on Mother’s Day. After all, a girl can’t have too many fabulous bags, right?
