Is it OK to use over-the-counter retinol creams or at-home peels while you are breastfeeding?

If you find yourself unsure of whether or not a certain product is safe, it is always a good idea to check the list of ingredients. Some ingredients to avoid are: retin-a, retinol, Vitamin A, alpha-hydroxyl acid and salicylic acid. If a product lists a bunch of other scary sounding ingredients, a simple Google search may be able to provide you with some helpful information. However, your safest bet is always to consult your physician before using any questionable beauty products. He or she will be able to provide you with a list of ingredients to stay away from. In general, Aveeno skin products are safe, gentle and can be found at any local drugstore. If you’re looking for an at-home peel, we recommend the oxygen peel by philosophy.
