Depend on your partner.
“When I really needed to lay down and take a nap, my husband did an amazing job with [our daughter],” says mom of two Lauren Hufnagl. “She’s always been a mama’s girl, but they grew a lot closer during those special daddy-daughter moments.” If you don’t have at-home help, reach out to family and friends for assistance.
Take care of yourself.
It’s just as important to eat right, rest, visit your midwife or obstetrician, and take notice of your body and symptoms during this pregnancy as it was your first. Don’t get so caught up in the baby or babies already at home that you allow your health—and possibly the health of your budding babe—to suffer.
Get your life in order.
Adding another child to the family almost doubles your workload, so it’s important to get yourself and your home ready for the new addition. Although you probably feel crazy-busy now, it’s only going to increase postpartum. Plan ahead to make sure you have all you need for your first weeks at home as a mom of more than one.
Have some fun.
Pregnancy is exciting! Put aside time whenever you can to reflect on the new life growing inside you and relish your role as a baby grower. Even if you’ve done it before, it’s an amazing feat.
