Once my daughter began constantly stretching her legs and trying to “stand” in my lap, I knew she needed a place where she could push off and bounce around without my hands digging into her armpits. Enter the Fisher-Price Discover ‘n Grow Jumperoo, which couldn’t have come at a better time—freedom for mom, freedom (and “standing” legs) for baby. We’re fans.
pTRU1-13317540_alternate1_enh-z6Like most Fisher-Price toys, this jumper is solidly constructed and decked out in baby faves: lights, sounds, bright colors and cute animals. The first time I put my daughter in it, I knew it was love. She gazed around and tentatively batted at the toys, and when she realized her feet could push off the floor—oh, the joy. Now when I put her in she immediately starts going to town—bounce, bounce, bounce and bounce some more. She has become an old pro at the toys, clacking the mirror, gnawing the froggy, and swinging the monkey. It’s perfect for her not-quite-mobile state, since it allows her to stretch her legs and play in her favorite position (upright!) without parental assistance. And I’ll be honest, I like not having to hold her up while she’s digging her toes into the top of my thighs. I also like being able to do things like shower and fold laundry while knowing she’s 100 percent happy and entertained.
The seat pad of this jumperoo appears to be comfortable—and, equally important, machine washable and dryable—and the adjustable height ensures we’ll still be able to use this entertainer as my baby grows. It has a 25-pound weight limit; I’m confident my chunky gal will outgrow this toy developmentally long before she reaches that limit. I appreciate the spring covers that prevent pinched fingers, and while this kind of toy does take up quite a bit of space, it’s worth it for us. My daughter loves it, and if we needed to ever get it out of the way, we could just fold the legs. Another great feature: The seat rotates 360 degrees for full access to all the excitement surrounding the seat. (Two thumbs up from babe.) My sanity loves that I can set the music to short-play mode, because while those cheery tunes bring a smile to my wee one’s face, they often bring a grimace to mine after the 100th round of play.
Another tidbit worth mentioning: A friend who has a different jumper toy swears that ours is bouncier than hers, which is a good thing when you have a mover ‘n shaker on your hands like I do. I’m very pleased with this jumperoo, and I would recommend it to anyone in the market for a bouncing baby apparatus.
