Tiffany Johnson, a wedding photographer in Laguna Nigel, California, went pretty in pink when crafting a room for her fourth baby, Delilah. She opted for a theme but kept it from becoming overpowering by sticking to subtle touches and a calming color scheme.

On inspiration
“My husband and I have always loved traveling to Palm Springs. We are continually inspired by the colors, sights and beauty that is to be found there. We really fell in love with the famous ‘pink door’ and decided to base the room off of [it]. There is even a framed print of the door itself in the room!”

On creating the perfect space
“I really wanted to create an oasis. Delilah is my last baby—our fourth!— and I wanted her room to be a refuge from the crazy that goes on just outside her bedroom door.”Johnson_8663On her biggest splurge
“The wallpaper was our biggest splurge and the first purchase I made for the room. I knew that it was going to [stand] the test of time.”Johnson_3208

On function trumping form (sometimes)
“I really had hoped to avoid purchasing a changing table for Delilah’s room because it’s such a small space. But I felt like I had to let go of what looked good and just go with what made sense for us. I’m not a fan of changing diapers on the floor, so a changing table it was!”

On making the room appealing for the whole family
“My older children are always in Delilah’s room rolling around with her on the ground, and it’s become a central meeting location for the family where we can all come snuggle the baby. The plush rug has been a huge bonus for us all.”

On seeking and finding (for less)
“I had seen a flamingo bust I liked from Anthropologie but couldn’t justify spending the money on it. Luckily I found a great Etsy shop that had a similar one, and I love it just as much!”
