Chicco Fit2 Car Seat

When I was pregnant with my third child, a dear friend and mother of 3 gave me a piece of advice, “Buy her a good car seat because she will practically live in it!” I had no idea how true these words would turn out to be. My sweet baby girl has to tag along on all her older siblings’ activities. From preschool pick-up, to ballet, tumbling, and outings, it seems the car seat is her second home. Therefore, in searching for a car seat, safety, comfort and convenience were at the top of our list.
The Chicco Fit2 car seat checks all the boxes and has been the perfect fit for our family. With safety as our number one concern, I was thrilled with the easy installation process for the Chicco Fit2. The two bubble levels at the base indicate the correct positioning while the latch tightening system allows you to achieve a very secure fit to the vehicle seat. The American Academy of Pediatrics recommends that children ride rear-facing for at least the first 2 years. The 2-stage design of the Chicco Fit2 means that the car seat can convert from a rear-facing infant seat to a rear-facing toddler seat using the same seat and base. The built-in position level converts the seat in seconds and allows you to use the same car seat with a child weighing 4-35 pounds and up to 35 inches. For most children, this will allow you to use the Fit2 for approximately 24 months! The seat secures into the base with a reassuring click. When traveling, the Fit2 can be installed using the carrier without the base using a lap shoulder belt.
The Chicco Fit2 provides a comfortable home base for baby. The new Chicco design is super cushy while the fabric is breathable and light. Importantly, the fabric can be spot-cleaned or machine washed. The car seat has a 7-position headrest that can easily be modified as baby grows. It also includes a newborn insert for the early days. We used the newborn insert for a few weeks and then easily removed it when baby girl grew and needed some additional wiggle space. The true test of comfort is how easily and quickly baby girl falls asleep in the Chicco Fit2. The padding really cradles her body and provides a comfortable napping spot. In addition, I can raise or lower the canopy to provide a dark quiet resting spot when we are on the go.
In terms of convenience, the Fit2 truly makes my mom life easier! The seat is compatible with Chicco strollers and can be used with other model strollers using a car seat adapter. The seat can be carried with one hand and snaps into the base easily. Furthermore, the Fit2 comes in two stylish black designs, suitable for even the hippest moms.
There are many differences between the Chicco Fit2 and the Chicco KeyFit 30, which we had previously. Most notably, the Ket Fit could be used for a child up to age 12 months with a child weight limit of 30 pounds or length of 30 inches. The Fit2 goes up to age 24 months, child weight or 35 pounds or length of 35 inches. While the Fit2 seat and base are slightly heavier and wider than the Key Fit, the versatility and convertibility of the seat outweighs the additional weight. This is a perfect car seat for the infant through toddler years, and I would highly recommend it.
