Boost your fertility

As a fertility and women’s health expert who has helped hundreds of women conceive, Aimee Raupp, MS, LAc, author of Yes, You Can Get Pregnant: Natural Ways to Improve Your Fertility Now and Into Your 40s, is constantly answering the question: How can I improve my fertility? Whether you are in your 20s or your 40s, there are quite a few things you can do to make yourself more fertile, says Raupp. Here are the top three steps she recommends taking right now to change your health and rejuvenate your fertility:
1. Adopt a daily meditation practice.
A study out of Harvard University’s Mind Body Medicine Institute found that women who meditated were almost three times more likely to become pregnant than those who didn’t. Meditation breaks the stress cycle—and recent studies show stress definitely affects a woman’s ability to conceive—and it also allows you to chill out and check in with your body on a daily basis. You’ll be more in touch with your health and well-being, which will ultimately improve your fertility.
2. Skip out on soy.
When it comes to your fertility, avoiding soy is important because it is a known hormone disruptor. The last thing you want is for your hormones to be out of balance when you are trying to conceive. The best diet to follow for fertility is one based on nutrient-dense foods that are as close to their natural state as possible.
3. Focus on joy.
When you are trying to conceive and it’s not happening, it’s difficult to stay happy-go-lucky all the time. However, it’s important to focus on other aspects of your life that bring you joy to shift your body and its internal environment from a state of negativity to one of positivity. This shift opens your heart and allows you to receive all the things you want—including a healthy pregnancy. If you feel like joy is lacking in your life, then work on bringing some more joy into it. What’s something you can do every day that would make you happy? Whether it’s eating healthily or revisiting an old hobby, make the time to have joy in your life. It is central to improving not only your fertility but also your overall health.
