A way to register for what you really want

Worried that lovingly overzealous relatives will shower you with gear that you don’t need or want? For families on a tight budget, registering can be both a bane and a boon. It’s a huge help when setting up your new one’s nursery, but when you receive 85 swaddling blankets and still can’t pay for daycare, it can feel like funds could have been otherwise appropriated for your debuting family member.
An alternate to the traditional baby store registry, Deposit a Gift is a cash registry service that allows parents to create a list of the things they’d like to be able to buy for their baby, from cribs to jogging strollers to their future scholar’s college education. Donors can decide which gift they’d like to make a contribution toward, and designate their money accordingly. Recipients can spend their money any time and anywhere.
Once the gift is received, customers can use the built-in record keeper to track exactly what was received, who the giver was and when the thank you note went out. Sounds pretty handy, if you ask us!
But what’s your take? Does this sound like a registry dream come true, or would you feel hesitant to hit up family and friends for cash only?
