Every once in a while, a product comes along that transports you to another world. That’s the only way to describe the new, and uber-hip stroller that is the 4moms Origami. After years in the making, this hi-tech, modern find turns heads and seriously wows your friends—it’s the world’s first power-folding stroller after all.
Let’s take a closer look at what makes this stroller so out of this world.
The Origami arrives almost fully assembled and you don’t need any additional tools to complete the process. The instructions are easy-to-understand. The main elements of assembly consist only of attaching the handle bars and storage bag. Once assembled, the stroller is ready to use.
To activate, you simply spin the knob (clockwise and then counter-clockwise) located on the handle bars and the stroller will power-fold up and be ready for use. As you wheel it around, a generator (hello, eco-friendly!) located in the wheel charges the stroller as it turns. That way, you are always ready to go for a stroll. If you haven’t used the Origami in a while, there is an electric cord that you can use to charge it up and you can also fold it manually. Once finished with your walk or shopping trip, you just spin the knob and the stroller will fold (like magic!) up and you can lift it into your car or closet.
The Origami also comes with an LCD screen that lets you know all about the stroller in a glance. You can tell if the baby is in the seat, how far you’ve walked, and how much battery power you have left. There are also lights that activate when the stroller is in use and turn off again when you are finished strolling. They look really cool. There is a storage bag where you can hold diapers, bottles or anything else that baby might need. The stroller also comes with a cup holder and a large canopy to keep the elements away from baby. Baby’s favorite features will be the safety harness and the foot rest.
You may be wondering how a stroller this technical could possibly be safe? I know, I worried about that too. I was afraid the Origami would accidentally fold up with my baby still inside. The good news? There are built-in safety features that help to prevent this. If there is weight in the seat, then the LCD screen will appear with a baby in the picture and there is no way to close up the stroller while there is weight in the seat. Also, when the stroller folds up, the seat remains in tact and lying flat, so even if it was to close up (which it won’t), your child would not get squished. The two-spin system for opening and closing also makes sure that there is no way to fold accidentally. And that’s a comforting thought for this mom who has a hard time transitioning to the modern products.
My overall favorite feature about this stroller is its super sleek design. I can’t even begin to tell you how many times my husband has jumped to show his friends “Dude, look at this stroller.” I get a kick out of how cool he thinks it is. This stroller is definitely not for the shy of heart. Once you pull up and pull out the Origami, you are going to get looks of wonder and even questions like, “Whoa, where did you find that stroller?” It’s the newest hippest product and I love it. I know you will too.
