The American Academy of Pediatrics (AAP) does not recommend giving over-the-counter medication to your baby unless prescribed by a doctor, as it offers little benefit to young children. But that doesn’t mean he has to suffer or that you can’t help alleviate ailments. Here are a few ways to comfort your wee one when sicknesses arise.
Chew on this
Teething is often the source of many meltdowns, and symptoms can pop up months before a tiny tooth appears. Offering a wooden teether or some nursing beads may occupy baby’s attention while also soothing irritated gums. On a similar note, breastfeeding is another healthful way to protect, pacify and calm.
Wipe it up
Children have a harder time clearing their sinuses than adults do and can’t relieve congestion. Boogie Wipes are a natural saline wipe for mini noses and are the perfect way to gently dissolve boogies without causing irritation. They’re soft to the touch and effective on even the harshest of colds. Your little one will be breathing—and feeling—better within minutes.
Keep it cozy
Don’t underestimate the healing power of cuddling with mom while enjoying an activity baby loves. Whether it’s a favorite book, a soft toy or a warm bath, your little darling will appreciate something familiar, hopefully remedying whatever sick days may come their way.
