Philips Avent uGrow Smart Baby Monitor

As my husband and I prepared for the birth of our first child, we wanted to make sure we had the best baby gear. Finding a reliable, top-of-the-line baby monitor was very important to us and something we started looking for early on. When we received our Philips Avent uGrow Smart Baby Monitor, we could not wait to test it with our new little one.

We were very excited that this monitor was not only a video monitor, but also a smart monitor, so the picture would be accessible on our phones from anywhere. This was key for us, as we both work full-time. It was great to be able to check in on our baby throughout the day and gave us peace of mind.

I am not the best with technology, but this was fairly easy to set up. The manual was pretty basic and easy to understand. The monitor is run off the uGrow application on your phone, which is very user-friendly. Both my husband and I downloaded it, and the application teaches you how to use all of the functions that the monitor has.

The design of the product is very sleek, modern, small and easy to assemble and the also monitor comes with a wall mount. We used this to secure it to the wall, in order to create an optimal view of our baby in her crib. It is important to note that the wall mount also allows for the monitor to be adjusted, so different views of the room are accessible. We used a drill to mount it into the wall. The monitor also must be plugged into an outlet. Once the monitor was set up and the application was downloaded on our phones, we were all set to begin using it. It was quite an easy process.

The smart baby monitor has many useful features. It has HD 720p day and night video quality. The picture is very clear and automatically switches to night vision mode when needed. It also tells you when the temperature and humidity in the baby’s room is not right. This was important for us and allowed us to figure out how to best set the temperature, so that it was an optimal environment for our baby.

We really liked the soothing lullabies that you could play for the baby from the phone and the ability to talk through your phone to the baby to soothe her. The monitor also allowed for us to take snapshots. This was nice to be able to share with family or just to have a fun picture from the day when we were away at work.

Another key feature of the monitor is the ability to allow up to three users to view continuously, with an interface that holds 10 users. This was great for us, as we could securely grant access to my mother, who lives out of state, to view the monitor and see her grandchild when she wanted.

You can set the application to notify you of certain events, such as when the baby cries, which is key for when you are using it from another room in your home. The monitor also has the ability to switch between Wi-Fi, 3G and 4G, so you can maintain a continuous connection wherever you are. I was concerned about having a video monitor that was connected over our Wi-Fi network because of safety. However, my husband and I have complete control over who is approved through the encoded video and the phone application’s privacy feature.

Overall, I would recommend Philips Avent uGrow Smart Baby Monitor to anyone who is looking for a top of the line video monitor that allows you to view your little one from home and also while you are away. It gave both my husband and I peace of mind, and we were able to share special moments with grandma and grandpa as well.
