We’ve been using the Chicco Polly Progres5 Highchair for about a month now, and we love it! Our little man just started eating solids, so we’ve been testing out the best places to feed him: sitting on the ground, sitting in his Bumbo seat or using a highchair. He’s definitely too messy to feed him anywhere without a tray to catch all of the splattered food, and using the Bumbo became a huge hassle because we had to clean the entire seat and tray after each meal. With the roomy tray and 5-point safety harness of the Progres5, our boy doesn’t wiggle too much or smear carrots all over the place. It’s our first choice by a long shot!
The tray is completely removable from the chair, and it also has a removable liner, which allows for easy cleaning. The liner can be placed in the dishwasher; although we have just been wiping it down in the sink so far. Once he starts eating more than just pureed veggies, we’ll probably start using the dishwasher more.
I also like that the seat material is easy to wipe down. There aren’t a lot of folds or crevices for food to get stuck in. The seat cover is not machine-washable. So far, that hasn’t been a problem for us, though. Just wiping with a baby wipe typically gets up all of the food.
And that brings me to another thing we love about this chair: It has five different modes. It is able to be a newborn recliner, highchair, toddler booster, big kid booster and youth stool. It grows and changes right along with your kid! It’s going to be so convenient as we have more children—one child can be in the booster seat while the other uses the stool! The Progres5 recommended for use up to 36 months.
The seat can also be adjusted to different height positions easily. We really like this feature because we tend to eat either at our dining table or at our kitchen island. We go back and forth between the different heights depending on where we’re eating. It’s also really easy to roll the chair between our kitchen and our dining room.
Setting up the chair only took a few minutes and was so simple. Everything clicks into place, so there’s no question if it’s put together correctly or not. Once you hear the click you know everything is safely in place. We used the manual only to double-check how the seat cover was supposed to go on. The manual makes it easy to understand with text and images. I was really impressed by the quality of the chair as well. Although we didn’t need any tools to put it together, the assembled chair seems really durable while still being comfortable for our baby.
