Lansinoh Smartpump

When my baby boy was born, it was an important goal for me to be able to breastfeed him, and when it came time to return to work, I wanted to ensure that I was able to continue to provide breast milk for my son while I was away. Needless to say, I was excited to begin establishing a good pumping routine when I received the Lansinoh Smartpump Double Electric Breast Pump.

My first step was to carefully review the manual, as well as download the Lansinoh Baby App on my iPhone, so I could accurately track my pumping sessions and log data around my baby’s feeding habits, growth and diaper changes. The manual was very user-friendly and also had clear illustrations. I particularly liked the quick-start guide and how easy it was to understand and begin pumping. There is also a separate manual to instruct users on how to pair the app with their pump to ensure accurate recording. The app is compatible with both iPhones and Androids. Once I read all of the manuals and had properly cleaned the parts, I was ready to assemble the breast pump and begin using it.

The pump is very comfortable to use. The comfort fit breast flanges fit nicely onto the breast and do not irritate or dig into your skin while you are pumping. The pump comes with two sizes of flanges, which is great, so you can choose the right one for you.

The pump also has three different settings, so you can find the style of feedings that is most like your baby’s. On each setting, there are eight different suction levels to choose from. When beginning your pumping session, the pump will start in a let-down phase, and then after two minutes it moves to the expression phase. You have the option to bypass that let-down phase and toggle to the expression phase just by pressing a single button. I really like the flexibility this pump gives you to adjust to the pumping style that works for you, as all mothers and babies are different.

The other major advantage of this breast pump is how small and compact it is. It is very lightweight and portable compared to other large breast pumps on the market. It is also easy to disassemble, clean and store until your next use. The pump is very quiet and doesn’t make a loud noise, so it’s perfect for discreetly pumping in your office. The one downside of this pump that I experienced was that it does not drain my breasts quite as quickly as my other pump. It takes approximately 20 minutes to completely drain my breasts, whereas my other one will drain my breasts in about 12-15 minutes. It’s worth noting, however, that expressing with Smartpump is more comfortable than my other pump.

I really appreciated the practicality of the Smartpump. It comes with interchangeable bottles, so you can use the same bottle to pump, store and feed. The pump comes with lids to store milk and also nipples to feed your baby. There is also a bag and cooler that comes with the Smartpump, making it easy to transport milk. The pump can be operated either by AC adapter or by six AA batteries. A car adapter is not included. (Although I think it would be a nice addition for moms who pump in the car!)

One of the best parts about this pump is the Lansinoh Baby App for the iPhone and Android phones. As a busy working mom, this app is so easy to track your pump sessions and review history by utilizing a chart, so you can see when you are pumping the most milk. The pump also allows you to track baby’s growth, breastfeeding sessions and diaper changes. These are key things for new moms, and having it all in once place brings me peace of mind.

I also really liked the resources part of the app. It provides moms with many different articles about pumping, breastfeeding, and bottle-feeding. Once your phone is connected to Bluetooth, pump sessions are automatically recorded. You will just need to enter in the ounces pumped at the end of session. I loved how easy and convenient the Lansinoh Baby App is to keep important information about baby and feeding right at your fingertips.

The user-friendly Lansinoh Smartpump with compatible phone app is a great choice for moms on the go. I am excited to continue to use mine and be able to provide for my breast milk for my baby.
