"Its best (and my favorite feature) are the 32 varied settings it has for suction strength and speed that allows me to quickly drain my breast resulting in me having more time to focus on baby."
Being a first time breastfeeding and pumping mama, the language of flange insert, diaphragm cap, and tubing seem more like birth control options I learned about in sex-education class than ways to get food for feeding my baby!
Since I’m new to the world of life-with-baby, what I need most out of my daily chores (and I consider pumping a chore) is for them to be completed with ease. So when considering a breast pump I want something that is instinctive and easy to use, within our new-baby-budget, and efficient in completing its function—which is to get milk out of this mama’s breast ASAP.
The Evenflo Advanced Double Electric Breast Pump checks most of those boxes with ease. Its price point is perfect as it is affordable. It’s on the lower end in price compared to other pumps I’ve seen in stores, so it doesn’t break this new mommy’s piggy bank. The pump is easy and straight forward to assemble with no tools necessary to complete the task, and it’s just as easy to disassemble—although the number of parts seems to be a lot to clean and keep track of. Its best (and my favorite feature) are the 32 varied settings it has for suction strength and speed that allows me to quickly drain my breast resulting in me having more time to focus on baby.
Other upsides to the pump are that it comes with a wall plug in option or you can take the pump on the go by using six AA batteries. It’s also light and comes with a drawstring bag for storage (although I do wish the bag had a little more room in it). Another nice feature is that the pump comes with two soft gel flange inserts to provide you with a total of three different flange fitting options. One note, this is not the quietest machine in the world; in fact it’s quite noisy. On my first day of using it my husband commented on how loud my pumping session was and asked if baby was still able to sleep through all the pumping ruckus. Luckily she was, but I’m not sure all babies could.
Overall, the Evenflo Advanced Double Electric Breast Pump gets the job done at a practical price. It meets most of this new mama’s must haves of being easy to use, effective at milk drainage, and works within our tight baby budget.
