Kolcraft Sprint Pro Jogging Stroller

When we got the Kolcraft Sprint Pro Jogging Stroller in the mail, it took me all of 30 seconds to get the scissors and tear open the box. My husband and I were so excited it had arrived! We have an everyday walking stroller but had never had one specifically for running. So, needless to say, we were pretty excited to get it set up and take it out for the first time.

Setting it up wasn’t hard at all. My dad was watching our daughter while I assembled the stroller, so I had the chance to put it together without distractions. The manual is easy to read, spelling out each step with pictures and one-step directions. You will need a Phillips screwdriver to put it together, but that is the only tool. The only tricky part I came across was attaching the front wheel. It took a little more finagling than the other portions, but it went together perfectly after a little bit of extra time and rereading the manual. Most parts just snap into place, though. So, Kolcraft did a decent job making an easy-to-assemble stroller. The only thing left to do was pump up the tires, and we were ready to go!
Once the stroller was put together, my husband and I agreed that it looks really sturdy, but it still manages to be sleek and sporty. It is mainly black with a royal blue trim. The first time we tried to take the stroller to a running path a few miles away from our apartment, we were planning on loading it into my husband’s sporty two-door car. It doesn’t take much to fold it, just six quick steps and both hands. When we were done, we stood it up (it can do so by itself), but we thought it still looked a little bulky, so we checked the manual to see if it collapsed any further. We were a bit disappointed when we found out that it did not. We ended up having to switch cars, so we could fit the stroller into our car with the larger trunk. It wasn’t too big of a deal for us because we have a larger car, but it’s worth noting for families with only compact cars.

When we put our daughter in the stroller for the first time, she looked so little in it! She’s only 10 months old, and the stroller fits kids up to 45 pounds, so we’ll be able to use it for a long time. Her size doesn’t prevent her from being secure in it, but because she’s still so little she doesn’t look very comfortable. We know she’ll continue to grow into it, though.
There’s a buckle and strap located on the back of the seat, below the parent assist tray, that can help you recline the seat. She seems much more comfortable when it’s reclined, so we tend to keep it in that position for now.
Possibly my favorite part about the stroller is the removable front tray that sits in front of our baby. We haven’t given it too much use yet because our daughter tends to fall asleep as soon as we start moving, but I know it will come in handy in the future. Keeping babies occupied is key, especially if you need to squeeze in your workout. So, having this little tray to store toys, snacks or a drink is going to be very useful. … Speaking of snacks and drinks (and running outside with a stroller in general), things are going to get sticky, dirty and altogether messy, so luckily every part of the stroller is easily cleaned with either just water or a combination of mild soap and water.

The Kolcraft Sprint Pro also offers a parent assist tray for moms and dads to safely store their keys, a wallet, a phone or a water bottle. There is also a large basket below the seat for extra storage. The canopy Kolcraft designed doesn’t extend out as far as other strollers that I’ve seen, but it does have a peekaboo window that you can open to check on your child. Another thing the Kolcraft offers is a footrest for your child. Our daughter is too small to reach it right now, but I know later on it will make her ride a little more comfortable.
The stroller offers large, durable rubber wheels, which are great for outdoor jogging. The front wheel is fixed in place, so when you make turns you either have to push down on the back handle to lift up the front wheel, or torque the whole stroller right or left depending on which way you turn.  This was a little challenging for my husband and I to get used to at first because our other stroller’s front wheel swivels. But, after we did some research on jogging strollers, we found that most have this feature. Manufacturers consider it a safety feature to prevent the stroller from swerving to either side if that wheel were to hit or run over something while you’re running. Ultimately, I think my husband and I would prefer to have a front wheel that could stay straight or swivel, depending on what locked mode we have it in, but we understand why Kolcraft designed it the way they did. The fixed front wheel also means that the best way to use the stroller is when jogging or running.
There are two brakes on the stroller. One is a foot brake that locks the back wheels and one is a handbrake that locks the front wheel. It’s great to have both, although the back brake can be a little challenging to apply. Nothing too tough, though; you just have to be use a little more force.

The stroller is a high-quality product. There are a couple things we would tweak about the product that would make it even better, but we are happy with it—and that we finally have a way to exercise while our baby is with us!
