I have to admit that whenever I think of babies in high chairs, I think the worst: a naked baby covered from head to toe in spaghetti sauce, laughing hysterically as a frantic and frazzled mother tries desperately to salvage the mealtime, her floors, and her once squeaky-clean infant.
So when faced with the daunting task of picking a high chair for my own little one, I knew it would be a less than enjoyable experience. Luckily, I found a high chair that eliminated my previous perceptions and was actually easy to clean!
The Fisher-Price EZ Clean High Chair really does live up to its name. This chair’s standout feature is definitely how easy it is to clean after mealtime. The straps, which adjust from the back of the chair with ease, are not your traditional fabric, but instead are coated rubber and easily wipe clean with a wet rag. In addition, the chair features a seamless Nano-Tex pad with no crevices, so crumbs don’t get stuck in hard-to-reach spots. The spill-resistant cover is also easily removable and machine washable. However, the best easy-clean feature on this chair is definitely the tray cover. The top of the feeding tray is removable and can be washed in the dishwasher. This feature allows the tray to be sanitized easily after each feeding so that that the baby is exposed to fewer germs.
EZCleanHighChairThe high chair does require assembly, but only takes about 15 minutes to put together. The instruction manual is simple to follow and has clear directions. Once assembled, the chair can accommodate babies as they grow and develop. The chair has three different recline positions so even a very young eater can use it. While the chair is recommended for weight limits up to 50 pounds, its slim design would make it difficult for a larger baby to still fit in the seat comfortably. This same slim open-frame design, however, does make it perfect for smaller eating areas and allows the baby to be up close to the table and closer to mom during mealtime. The chair also folds up for easy storage between feedings. With these features, this product is perfect for those who need to consider space limitations in making a high chair purchase.
The chair also includes back wheels to move the chair around an area, although it does require a bit of effort to do so since the front of the chair is stationary. The feeding tray is removable with one hand, which is great if you have your baby in the other. But you do have to be careful not to remove the tray too quickly, especially if the baby is still in the chair, because you could easily spill food or hit your baby in the legs.
This chair is also available in several colors and patterns, so finding a chair that fits mom and baby’s personality and design preferences is super easy. My favorite is the gender-neutral design that features the elephant and hippo along the top of the chair. Overall, the Fisher-Price EZ Clean Highchair is a great chair at a great value, and makes clean-up a breeze. The chair definitely takes away any anxiety mom may have about mealtime messes.
