Books before bed

Tonight, at bedtime, I read Isaac a book. I’ve “read” him books before, but this time, I really, actually read it. This time, he sat and looked at the pages instead of trying to rip them from my hands. Granted, I think he was really tired, but still, what a big boy! I couldn’t help but think about all the bedtime stories that will be read to him. Tonight’s was a Berenstain Bears book from my childhood.  Oh, how I loved that series.  I hope he loves it as much as I did.
We were lucky that my mom kept so many books from my childhood. We also received many from family and friends, and hope to instill a love of reading in Isaac. We even made books a very focal point of his room. I love the way the colorful covers add to his décor, and I hope it will encourage us to read as he gets bigger.
All in all, today was sort of perfect, actually. Isaac woke up happy as could be, and stayed that way pretty much all day. We had a wonderful, albeit short visit with my best friend and her father and kids as they passed through town in route to their vacation destination. I even got some snuggle time when Isaac took a snooze on my chest this morning, and then, tonight he let me read him a book. I love that kid.
