I have purchased and used many car seats as a mother of six, and the Britax Marathon CS is by far my favorite for several reasons.
First, it’s the easiest car seat I have ever installed in a vehicle. It fits as easily is my Subaru Forester as it does in my husband’s GMC Yukon. The seat can be installed really quickly—there is no wrestling with it to tighten the straps or kneeling on it to make sure it’s in tight. Once it is clipped in, it is secure and does not budge. How nice it is to feel confident that baby’s car seat is safely in place and not going anywhere in case of a fender bender or full-blown crash!
The car seat’s cushion-y cover provides a comfy and cozy ride for my passenger. At age 1, baby fits comfortably and securely. I like that when I buckle her in, I can tighten the harness until the Click & SafeR Snug Harness Indicator clicks to let me know my precious cargo is safely strapped in. The audible feature serves to confirm that she’s held snugly in the seat. (The side impact protection, Versa-Tether, HUGST and 5-point harness offer great peace of mind too.)
She looks warm and content sitting in it—it’s no wonder she falls asleep so readily during longer drives. Her head is supported, so she sleeps comfortably and rarely wakes up crabby or unhappy after a nap on the road.
This car seat sits up higher than any other I have tried, which means my sweet girl is able to see out the windows and watch the world go by. She’s quite content to look out at the other vehicles and take in the scenery as we travel.
The Marathon CS is a bit heavy and large, compared to some other car seat options, but if size and portability are not an issue, I would definitely recommend it for easy installation, safety and comfort.
