Receiving mixed messages about when to introduce more than milk into baby’s diet? Consider these cues to make sure your munchkin is ready for the change of course.
1| He can hold his head up. Good head control means your tot can sit in a highchair or infant seat during mealtimes.
2| He opens his mouth for food. Your hungry hippo may watch intently as you eat, reach for your food or seem otherwise interested in giving it a go.
3| He can move food from spoon to throat. Between 4 and 6 months of age, your little one’s tongue thrust (or extrusion) reflex will begin to fade. Once it’s gone, he’ll be able to move food to the back of his mouth to swallow it. If he’s unable to do this, wait a week or two, then give it another shot.
