The day our Graco DuetSoothe Swing + Rocker arrived, it could not have been more welcomed. Our son was going through his 3-month-old growth spurt and had not been napping more than 15-30 minutes at a time. I opened the box, took out all the parts and the manual. With only a screwdriver needed, I had the swing and rocker put together in about 20 minutes. The manual was fairly easy to read, the first few steps took the longest to figure out, but from there, it was a breeze. As soon as I placed my son in the swing, buckled him in and started it up, he was asleep. He was finally able to get a long nap!
We have been running the swing off battery power. It takes four D batteries for the swing and one D battery for the soothing vibration on the seat. You can also plug the swing in with the included AC adapter. The AC adapter that came with our swing was the incorrect one; I contacted Graco and a representative was very helpful in shipping me the correct adapter. It was such an easy process—I would definitely recommend Graco for their customer service. We have been running the rocker for a week now on just batteries, and it is going strong. I was worried the batteries would not last very long, but I have been proved wrong so far.
The swing seat is very soft and machine washable with an adjustable 5-point harness. The seat has a one-hand lever, so you can recline the baby back or sit him up. This option makes the swing very versatile. The rocker is easy to remove from the swing while your child is buckled in the seat. This is such a nice feature for when you want to go to another room but do not want to disturb your baby. I have found the seat to be roomy enough to give my son a toy or rattle, and he has plenty of space to play and kick his legs. While the rocker is attached to the swing, there are six settings for movement. Each setting (1-6) controls the range of motion of the swing. The lowest setting just gently rocks the baby, and the highest setting is great when our son need to feel more movement. The seat can also be put in three different positions. This allows them to be able to swing side-to-side or front-to-back. It is rated to a maximum of 30 pounds for the swing and 25 pounds for the rocker. So this combo can definitely grow with your baby.
You can get the swing in six different colors, so it is easy to find an option you like for your home. We have the sapphire color combo and love how well it matches our living room. The swing + rocker combo is rather large. The base takes up a 3 foot by 3 foot area, and on the highest setting the swing goes outside of the base about 4 inches on either side. The detachable rocker seat is also larger than many other bouncer/rocker seats I’ve seen. I would not plan to travel with the swing or seat. I think it would be best if you have room to leave the swing set up all the time; while it can be broken down to store, it is not quick and easy.
The swing stand comes with several entertainment options. It can play nature sounds or music. The speaker quality is pretty good, and the volume is adjustable. The volume can play louder than we would probably ever play it. There are 10 songs and five nature sounds. If you select the music, it cycles through all the songs. A mobile is also included in the swing package. Ours has three very soft white bears hanging from the center of the swing. Our son loves to stare and coo at them.
Overall, the Graco DuetSoothe Swing + Rocker, is a great bang for your buck, as long as you have the room for it. It has become a great place for our son’s morning and afternoon naps. He sleeps so soundly, who can argue with that. There are a few quirks to the product: If the vibration is on high, the seat rattles a bit. It makes the same noise most swings make: a clicking as the motor is changing directions. However, none of this would keep me from purchasing the swing. I would recommend this swing to any friends or family looking to buy a similar product. Graco makes a great rocker, and if you have any problems, their customer service is top notch.
