When the Bright Starts Having A Ball Explore & Roar Activity Jumper arrived at our doorstep, it could not have been better timing. My little one was reaching the age that waving a simple rattle in front of her was just not going to cut it. She wants to roll and explore and be entertained. As a busy mom, I needed help—STAT! I was crossing my fingers that an activity jumper would be the solution.
I admit that I was a bit overwhelmed when I unpacked all the pieces that came with the Bright Starts jumper; however, to my surprise, the jumper was very simple and quick to assemble. The manual included easy-to-follow instructions and illustrations. Upon initial impression, the jumper had a bright and cheerful appearance. As is common with most jumpers, it does take up some space, which could be an issue if used in a smaller room. It’s also worth noting that it does not fold (in case you were wondering for storage). The jumper is also rather heavy, which makes moving or transporting it challenging. However, the jumper’s size and weight do make it extremely sturdy, which I personally feel is an important upside.
When it comes to cleaning this product, the Bright Starts jumper gets two thumbs up! The fabric seat is machine washable (hooray!), and I simply wipe clean the plastic parts with a damp cloth and mild soap.
When I introduced my 5-month-old daughter to this product, her face said it all! She simply loves to play in this jumper! The jumper is equipped with a full circle of toys and activities, some of which include lights and sounds. My daughter especially loves the lion station, which features melodies, learning and piano sounds. She enjoys spinning the lion’s mane as well. The seat of the jumper rotates 360 degrees for easy access to all the toys; my baby never gets bored!
Another great feature is that the toy stations are removable, thus allowing little ones to continue play even when they’ve outgrown the jumper itself. As the manufacturer notes, this feature extends play up to two years. The jumper also has three height adjustments, which allows the center to grow with baby.
My baby is fully entertained by this product, as the jumper has so many features, including lights and sounds. If your baby is one who becomes easily over-stimulated, this might not be the best choice for you. With that being said, the toys can be removed, which could be an easy solution.
Per the manual, the activity center is only to be used if the child is at least 4 months of age, can sit up unassisted, is less than 30” tall (76.2 cm) and weighs less than 25 pounds (11 kg). My 5-month-old daughter is average height and weight, and I do feel that this product will be better suited for her when she is a bit older and stronger. For instance, there are toys at the top of the three-height adjustment stands that she cannot currently reach, which I think frustrates her a bit. However, as my little one has moved on from much of her newborn toys and gear, it is nice to have a product that will continue to grow with her and that she can use for an extended period of time.
Overall, this is a great product for active babies who love stimulation and playtime. This jumper never fails to entertain my little one; she always has the biggest smile when I place her in this activity center. My daughter simply loves playing in this jumper—and, when it comes down to it, a happy baby equals a happy mommy!
