Work the curl

Woman with curly hair

There’s more than one way to achieve date night hair that’s soft and curvy. Pump up the volume and complement the voluptuous figure you’re sporting these days!

Roll

These aren’t your grandma’s curlers! Today’s rollers are more hair health-conscious (these are made from tourmaline and titanium with a ceramic coating and velvety flocking) and easier to use, with 90-second heat-up and clips in place of pins. Roll, cool and release for a romantic look.

Brush

The tried-and-true round brush blow-out is still an easy way to create some lift, curl your ends under or out, and get the polished look you love. Try a boar and nylon hybrid brush; boar bristles gently distribute natural oils for healthy shine, and nylon bristles have better reach and pull for thicker locks.

Curl

Choose your curling iron based on your needs: A large barrel will create big, loose waves while a small barrel will form tight ringlets. To get sexy, tousled Hollywood curls, select a mid-sized iron. Hold it vertically and, starting near the scalp, wrap strands around it by and—no clamping please! Soft spirals result.

[tip]
Use a hot iron to set the curls, then spray after curling. Using hair spray before applying heat tools only burns alcohol onto your hair and curling iron, and that’s not healthy for either.
