Pregnancy myth exposed: Expecting a baby doesn't guarantee you shining, luscious locks. With hormones surging through your body, your hair will likely change—sometimes for the better and sometimes for the worse. Try these tips if your hair is growing out of control ... but keep in mind that once baby arrives, your mane could be changing yet again!

[problem] Scalp issues
Yep, dandruff can seem pretty gross, but it's a problem some pregnant gals have to face.

  • Wash your hair every day to prevent your scalp from accumulating dead cells (which is essentially all that dandruff is—dead skin cells).
  • Find a dandruff shampoo that doesn't contain coal tar or salicylic acid, which may not be safe during pregnancy. (Pyrithione zinc is normally OK, but check with your doctor before beginning treatment.)
  • Scrub your scalp vigorously while shampooing to dislodge excess scales.
  • Apply a scalp toning tonic after each wash.
