Teach My Baby is an all-in-one learning kit that includes two-piece puzzles, one-piece puzzles, one set of nesting blocks, one storyboard, one set of flashcards, four board books and five finger puppets.
The materials are divided into four sets for easy organization and use: first words, first numbers, self, and sounds and touch. It is interactive, with prompts for the parent on the flashcards, and each concept is reinforced with the same pictures and words in the books as well as the flashcards. This learning kit has everything you need to stimulate your baby’s senses and enlarge his understanding about the world around him, and it all comes in a convenient carrying case to keep it all organized!
I have a 3-year-old as well as a 10-month-old baby, and as excited as I was about all that was in the kit, my 3-year-old was even more excited! He did all the puzzles, read all the books, and built the nesting block tower multiple times. It kept his attention for quite some time. After he had explored it, I had him help me show the pictures and words to our baby, which was a fun interaction for all of us. We have taken it out multiple times to play with the finger puppets, do the puzzles, and use the nesting blocks. Those are definitely the favorite of both my children.
I like the way the kit uses simple words with simple pictures to teach first words, and real animal pictures to help teach sounds and touch. Each animal flashcard has a texture on it, which I also really like, and the two-piece puzzles are the real animal pictures as well. Teach My Baby also uses actual photos of babies to teach the different parts of “self”—hair, eyes, nose, mouth, teeth, tongue—and each nesting block and flashcard has a mirror on it for the baby to see himself. This learning kit has thought of it all and has everything you will need to enjoy some learning time with your baby.
I love the board books, but after just one time of using the kit, one of them has come apart, and others have since. Also, after a few times of using the kit, one of the mirrors came off a nesting block and a puzzle board has broken. If I was the only one using it to teach my baby rather than having help from my 3-year-old, this may not have happened so quickly, but the quality of the materials still a bit lacking.
Overall, I liked the product for its ideas and the amount of material that can be taught with just this one kit. It has everything you need to have organized learning sessions with your child. Just be gentle with it!
