When it comes to travel systems, I am not a fan of the big, bulky ones that seem to hit the registry lists of so many first-time moms. I much prefer the simple joys of a smaller, lightweight stroller that is easy to manage, and can actually be lifted into my car without the assistance of a forklift. The new Quinny Zapp Xtra is perfect and when paired with the Maxi Cosi Mico, makes an ideal travel system for a momma who is ready to hit the town with a baby in tow.
I must admit I was already a huge fan of Quinny prior to testing their newest stroller, the Zapp Xtra. I used the previous version with my son Charlie and was already a huge fan. I really wasn’t sure how it could be improved upon, because I was sure it was already perfect! Well, I was totally wrong and it is even better than I could have imagined.
The New Quinny Zapp Xtra has so many amazing features—most of which are typically only available in larger strollers that cost two or three times the price of the Zapp Xtra. Actually, after I took it out of the box and began exploring all of the features and possibilities available with this stroller, I had to stop and check to make sure I had received the right stroller. This stroller is simply that awesome!
One of my favorite features is the ability to turn the seat of the Zapp Xtra to the forward or rear-facing position. This is a great option because it gives you the ability to interact with your child more frequently and is especially nice when your child is still small. It also reclines beautifully in both positions to allow for a younger infant or sleeping child of any age.
Another big plus of the Zapp Xtra is the absolutely huge sunshade. I often find that sunshades are too short to be very effective, but this sunshade is very large and perfect for keeping your little one shaded on sunny walks around the block or through the park.
It maneuvers like a dream and features easy to use brakes and a separate break release, which I personally adore. The Zapp Xtra also folds very easily into a small bundle and is extremely lightweight. I can easily lift it into my trunk and it is small enough that I still have room for my groceries.
The absolute best part of the new Quinny Zapp Xtra is the option of using it as a travel system along with the Maxi Cosi Mico. Often strollers require the additional purchase of car seat adapters which can cost as much as $50, but Quinny was smart enough to include those along with their stroller making it an ideal combo and a great bargain.
The Maxi Cosi Mico is perfect for rear-facing babies from birth to 12 months or 5 to 22 pounds. The car seat is well-padded with an energy absorbing expanded polypropylene (EPP) foam and looks so comfy, even for smaller babies. My son was only 6 pounds and 8 ounces at birth and he always looked well supported and cozy in his Mico. In fact, it even includes Maxi Cosi’s unique Cozi-Dozi insert for smaller infants, so there’s no need to purchase any additional inserts. The Mico is available in several funky color combinations, which I love. My personal favorite is sugar coral.
Pairing the Quinny Zapp Xtra with the Maxi Cosi Mico couldn’t be easier. Simply attach the provided car seat adaptors to the Zapp Xtra (you’ll find that they stay in place so you won’t need to attach them each time.) Then snap your Maxi Cosi Mico onto the stroller base. It’s so simple that I could do it in my sleep! The pair looks so sleek and modern that you'll be fielding questions and receiving compliments left and right.
