Don’t let the chilly weather keep you from hitting the trails during your pregnancy.
Mountain Mama has created its Clouds Rest Maternity Baselayer Top and Bottom to keep you warm (and your belly fully-covered) whether you’re trekking through the Smokies or simply trekking to the grocery.
MountainMamaSo if you’re a nature-lover who doesn’t want to have to give up weekend hikes because of the weather or if you’re just a yogi who wants to stay warm on the way to class, Mountain Mama apparel can work for you. Pieces are made from super stretchy Polartec Power Dry fabric that wicks moisture away from your skin while trapping in the warm you need to stay comfortable.
After pulling on the half-zip Baselayer Top, I immediately understood what Mountain Mama meant by their “Bellyglove” cut. This unique curvature of the fabric keeps your belly from playing peek-a-boo and safe from those annoying updrafts other looser fitting tops can let sneak in. The Bellyglove also manages to give you some definition between bust and bump, so you can flaunt your beautiful curves.
As for the Baselayer Bottom, don’t be worried about showing off too many of those aforementioned curves. The pants have a looser fit than spandex, but with the same stretchability. I’d describe the cut as “relaxed long johns.” They aren’t cut as wide at the bottom as yoga pants which means less fabric to worry about tripping on out on the trails. The bottoms have a low rise, so they sit nicely underneath your belly. But don’t fear of exposing your recently enhanced rear: Mountain Mama has included removable suspenders—which are surprisingly more charming than dorky—with the pants to keep everything in place.
As a machine-wash, line-dry type of gal, my Mountain Mama gear has made it through several washes, keeping its shape, color and stretchability. I would recommend ordering the top one size up from what you wore prepregnancy, just to be sure the gear will cover your belly full-term, but I love the fit of the bottoms just the way they are.
Happy trails!
