Have you met Cybex? The German company is new to the U.S. this past year, and its stylish strollers, car seats and carriers are quickly finding their way into celebrity homes and parents’ wish lists.
All the items in the line come in gorgeous saturated colors—jewel tones with details in contrasting shades. The styling is definitely Euro-chic, but the products are also really well constructed, durable and smart.
The new
2.GO carrier is impressive on paper and in person. Recommended for use from 3 months to 5 years (!), the weight range is an incredible 8 to 40 pounds. As your child grows from newborn to toddler to preschooler, different carry positions are available. The front facing in and hip positions are great for use from 3 months; the front facing out, “mobility seat,” and back positions are options beginning at 6 months. The last two positions provide baby with much more freedom of movement above the waist, so she won’t feel as constricted.
I really love how adjustable this carrier is. The shoulder and waist straps adjust to fit mom or pop, of course, but there’s lots of room to accommodate different baby sizes too. Outside zippers allow baby more space on her top and bottom and allow the contrasting color to show through. The bottom of the carrier is meant to be worn wider around baby’s bum, allowing her to take a “spread squat position” so her legs aren’t just dangling; this makes for a comfier, bone-healthier ride.

And while baby’s sitting pretty, mom’s not too bad off either! The shoulder straps are lightly padded, and a clip behind the back (or above the breast, depending on the position) provides extra support. The waistband is thickly padded, and it really takes some of the pressure off the shoulders, which is super important as baby grows and moves toward that 40-pound max weight. While it’s not difficult to get started, you will want to read the instructions to make sense of the straps and buckles involved, and figure out all your options. Most adjustments will need to be made before you add baby, although some small changes are easy to make with baby in place.
When you’ve had some fun and you’re needing a quick clean before you head out for more, the 2.GO can be thrown in the wash at cold temperature, and the bib can be detached and de-drooled if you don’t want to put washer wear on the carrier every time.
