líllébaby EuroTote

Written by: Meredith
I have to admit, when I first laid eyes on the líllébaby EuroTote, I was a little skeptical. What was it exactly? A carrier? A moses basket? A bunting? As it turns out, the EuroTote is all of the above...and more! Although it took me a little while to get acquainted with the EuroTote—after all, I’d never seen another product like it—in the end, I was pleasantly surprised by its versatility. On the box, the EuroTote explains itself as “5 products for 3 years in 1 system.” I decided to really put this claim to the test by trying out each of the EuroTote’s functionalities separately.

I decided to start by using the EuroTote as a baby carrier since this was the most perplexing configuration in my mind. I had never before seen a baby carrier design like this one, and quite frankly, I was a little disturbed that it resembled a duffle bag. Once I vowed to keep an open mind, however, I must admit that the EuroTote has a unique advantage over other baby carriers. It can fit in a stroller or convertible car seat and then the entire carrier can be picked right up, baby inside, without disturbing the child. It reminded me of the concept behind stroller car seat adaptors—a seamless way to transition baby from the stroller or car to the next location.

The EuroTote’s design when in carrier mode, which I once described as resembling a duffle bag, is actually closer to a moses basket. This comes in handy on trips to the park or the airport, because it provides a safe, comfy place for baby to nap without the hassle of setting up a travel bed. The inside of the EuroTote is lined with soft, flannel cotton and is padded with a layer of foam underneath, so the baby stays comfy even if the carrier is placed on the ground. The EuroTote also comes with two interchangeable covers—a warm option for winter and a lightweight, mesh version for summer—so it can be used comfortably year round.

When used as a bunting or stroller bag, the EuroTote adjusts to accommodate children of all sizes. The bottom can be folded and clipped under so any age baby will feel snug and secure. The top fabric around the baby’s head is also adjustable, and there’s even a special pouch for the loose end of the drawstring so that it stays safe for baby, too.

When used as a bunting in a car seat, I clipped the sides close for a snugger fit. When used as a stroller bag, I unclipped the sides and loosened the fabric around the head for a relaxed way to keep the baby warm and toasty. Thanks to slots in the back of the EuroTote, I had no problem slipping car seat and stroller snaps right through the fabric to make sure that baby was buckled in safely.

My favorite uses for the EuroTote were as a play blanket and travel bedding. By removing the top cover and loosening the fabric around the head until it was completely open, the EuroTote transformed into a large, soft spot for baby to play or have tummy time. I could also see this setting being ideal for diaper changes when the floor is the only option. By leaving the fabric spread out and simply zipping the top cover back on, the EuroTote once again transforms into comfy bedding for naps away from home.

After exploring all of the uses for the EuroTote, I was very impressed by its chameleon-like qualities. However, practically speaking, I see myself mostly using the EuroTote as a moses basket, stroller bag or play blanket. Although it’s a cool concept to be able to fit a carrier right into the car seat or stroller, I’d likely use a more traditional carrier (like the líllébaby EveryWear) for every day, and reserve the EuroTote for occasions when I know I will need a moses basket or clean spot for baby to play.
