As a new mom, I was overwhelmed by the choices out there for wearing my baby. Did I want a pouch, or a sling or a soft structured carrier? I didn’t even know what my baby would prefer, so choosing seemed impossible. When given the chance to review the Balboa Baby Adjustable Sling however, I was relieved to see that my options weren’t limited at all. I could wear my son in a variety of different ways. This made me hopeful that the Balboa Baby was the right choice for us.
17327518262622P_0Turns out I was right! This sling is great for carrying in a variety of holds, including cradle style, front carrier style, cuddle style and hip carrier style. I will grow with my son as he gets larger (and perhaps shows preference for a new hold) and accommodates many of the things I need to do while wearing him, including nursing (super easy to do, with minimal adjusting needed!
One caveat—I am short-statured, and the sling sits a little lower than I would like, but not by much. (I have it adjusted to the smallest setting.) However, husband can use it with ease, and it’s really nice to have the option for either one of us to wear the baby with only a few seconds adjusting. The material is uber-soft, and there is ample room for our baby to be cradled. The shoulder area is padded, making it a comfortable fit that doesn’t cut into your shoulder after wearing for an extended amount of time.
Buyers should be aware that this sling is only intended for use with babies up to 25 pounds, (which for some children can happen a lot sooner than for others!) and very small babies (under 7 pounds) may need padding to fit properly into the deep pocket of the pouch. But the adjustability, flexibility in the type of holds you can utilize and softness of the fabric and padded shoulder make this sling a real winner.
