BabyBjorn Comfort Carrier

Have you seen the latest from BabyBjorn? The Comfort Carrier is one of three organic carriers to debut from BabyBjorn this year—the others are the Original Organic and the Active Organic.
ComfortCarrierThe Comfort Carrier is definitely a Bjorn, but it differs from the Original in a few distinct ways. Most noticeably, the recommended carry weight is 13 to 31 pounds (or until 2 years of age), whereas the Original is for babies weighing 8 to 25 pounds. For me, this is significant. I remember wishing I could still carry my daughter in her BabyBjorn Original after she became too big; I also remember having to dress her in lighter-weight clothes so she could fit into the carrier. Because the Comfort doesn’t fit babes under 13 pounds, I’ll definitely want another carrier for the early months (that’s where the Hold Me sling comes in!).
The higher weight limit necessitates the other style changes. Baby’s weight is distributed between a heavily padded hip belt and cushy shoulder straps. (Because I am prone to lower back pain, this is a big bonus in my book!) The straps are extremely comfortable and easy to adjust, made to fit adults ranging from size small to extra large.

This carrier also offers two leg positions. The narrower position is for outward-facing and smaller babes. When a bigger baby is facing inward, a zip-on panel supplies a wider base for baby’s bottom and thighs; this is more comfortable for the parent and, from what I’ve learned about carriers, better skeletal support for baby. The Comfort is lovely in Anthracite with gray and khaki accents, and it features the same sturdy construction and smart features that made BabyBjorn a household name. As with all Bjorns, it can be worn on the front only, and baby’s head and arms can be positioned differently as he grows.

As most Bjorn-toting parents will tell you, babies love to gnaw on the top of the carrier while facing out. Because the fabric is declared safe by Oeko-Tex Standard 100, Class 1 and GOTS-certified organic, it’s totally fine for baby to chew. However, this carrier comes with a clever fitted, detachable terry bib to save your baby toter from total slimage.
While this carrier is bulkier than other Bjorns (it won’t fit discreetly into your diaper bag), its pluses make it a very smart buy that both parents and baby can appreciate.
