Once your budding babe is regularly on the move, keep tabs on his kick count to boost bonding and help doc monitor his well-being.

Pick a time when your little gymnast is most active (like after a meal), and try to tally his kicks around the same time each day.

Prop your feet up or lie on your left side to get in position. If you think baby is asleep, try drinking a glass of cold water.

When you know your tadpole is awake, start the clock—and the count. Each movement, including twists and jabs and rolls, equals one kick. Don’t count hiccups.

Once you’ve hit 10 kicks, log how many minutes it took. The time frame could range from 30 minutes to two hours.

After a week or so, you’ll tune in to his movement patterns, so you’ll know right away if something seems off.
