Though he’s not actually on “safari,” our son is truly an “explorer” when he uses his Taggies Safari Explorer Deluxe Door Jumper. It’s an interactive, lightweight jumper that has lots of colorful Taggies along the edges in true Taggies fashion. It comes in a safari themed pattern that is light green, orange, and yellow. Our son likes the mirror that is attached to the straps, and there is also a toy lion that attaches to the front of the jumper.
The manual is well-illustrated and easy to follow. If you are good at reading pictorial directions (think IKEA), understanding this jumper manual will be simple. Assembly took me about 15 minutes and required a screwdriver. I needed a little patience to fit the fabric around the support bars, but it wasn’t too difficult. Attaching the jumper to the wall/door trim is simple. Your walls need to be 4 to 5 inches thick and have trim at least 0.5 inches thick.
Once assembled the sturdy Taggies Safari Explorer Deluxe Door Jumper hangs in a doorway. It’s great because it doesn’t take up a large footprint on the floor, and we can clean around it easily. The jumper stores compactly and can be easily transported. We think this is great for vacations and trips to visit relatives. It is one piece so you don’t have to worry about forgetting or losing parts. When we travel, we carry it in a tote bag about the size of a shopping bag.
To use the Taggies Safari Explorer Deluxe Door Jumper, you just place your baby in the seat. It’s easy to fit our son’s legs through the leg holes, and there are not any straps. At 5 months old, our son was able to sit in the jumper; though there is not any padding so we use a burp cloth to pad his chest. To use the Taggies jumper, a child needs plenty of neck strength and to be able to sit with support. As our son gets stronger, he is enjoying it more and can push off the ground with his tip-toes and spin in circles. I’m sure that once he’s big enough, he’ll start jumping more. The straps and springs are not very elastic so he’ll need to work hard to bounce. The jumpers’ height depends on the height of the door frame and can be adjusted with the straps. The jumper is roomy so it should accommodate our son until he reaches the maximum weight of 26 pounds.
This jumper wipes easily for minor accidents, and the fabric can be machine washed and hung to dry. Removing and disconnecting the plastic support takes a little patience, but isn’t too complicated if you need to take the fabric off for washing.
The Taggies Safari Explorer Deluxe Door Jumper is priced at $40. For a lightweight jumper, this seems to be a reasonable price. At 5 months, our son is entertained for about 10 minutes before he tires, and I’m sure this will increase as he gets stronger and can support himself more. If you’re looking for a simple, compact, portable jumper, the Taggies Safari Explorer Deluxe Door Jumper is a great option.
