LorexSweetPeekWhen my husband and I found out we were pregnant with twins, we were initially in shock, but overwhelmed with happiness. Then we started thinking about how difficult it was going to be to raise two children at the same time …  As first-time parents, we have done research on everything from car seats to baby monitors to lotion! Needless to say, when we were asked to test out the Lorex Sweet Peek video baby monitor, we were thrilled! I had seen this product online and had considered purchasing it, but I didn’t realize how high quality a product it was until we started using it.
When I received the monitor I wasn’t immediately impressed with the packaging, as the box is very small—it didn’t look like a monitor could fit in it! But they say good things come in small packages, and that is certainly true in this case! The package includes a 2.4″ portable LCD monitor and camera. I was somewhat disappointed that it didn’t come with two cameras (since we have twins), but when I read the instructions, I learned that I was able to add up to three more cameras. This capability is perfect for us, as we will be able to have a camera mounted above each of their cribs and in their playroom.
The set up for the monitor was a breeze. All we had to do was plug in the unit and charge it. The ease of set up was a major plus as I am not the most tech-savvy individual. While the unit was charging, I was able to read about all the added features this unit offers—battery life up to eight hours, built-in night-light, night vision, digital zoom, 450-foot outdoor wireless range and two-way talk. After reading the manual, I was really excited to put this unit to the test!
Once the unit was charged, we placed the camera on a shelf, but also noted the ability to mount the camera on the wall. The camera pivots, so we were able to get the angle we wanted to view in the nursery. I was very impressed with the picture quality. I was able to clearly see both cribs in the light and in the dark. The first thing I noticed when I turned the lights out was the subtle night-light built into the camera. The screen size on the monitor is 2.4 inches which is large enough to clearly see the babies. It fits easily in your hand and is a convenient size to put in your pocket if you’re going outside or working around the house. You can also zoom in on the screen picture if you need to get a closer look at your children. You can see every move they make with crystal clear picture quality.
We then took the monitor outside to test the outdoor wireless range. Our house sits on an acre lot and we were able to walk the perimeter of our property without losing the feed. Since we have two other four-legged children that we have to monitor while they are playing outside, this will be a nice feature to have.
We mainly use the monitor for viewing purposes only, but this unit comes with so many other features that I’m sure will come in handy when our children are older. It offers a two-way talk feature with very clear audio sound. There are also built-in lullabies that you can play to help soothe your baby. We don’t use this feature, but I can see how this would be very handy to help put your little one to sleep.
Overall, I was very impressed with this unit. I highly recommend the Lorex Sweet Peek video baby monitor to parents with children of all ages. It is a fantastic product that I know my household will get a lot of use from in the years to come!
