We’ve been using the Chicco Polly Progres5 Highchair for about a month now, and we love it! Our little man just started eating solids, so we’ve been testing out the best places to feed him: sitting on the ground, sitting in his Bumbo seat or using a highchair. He’s definitely too messy to feed him anywhere without a tray to catch all of the splattered food, and using the Bumbo became a huge hassle because we had to clean the entire seat and tray after each meal. With the roomy tray and 5-point safety harness of the Progres5, our boy doesn’t wiggle too much or smear carrots all over the place. It’s our first choice by a long shot!

The tray is completely removable from the chair, and it also has a removable liner, which allows for easy cleaning. The liner can be placed in the dishwasher; although we have just been wiping it down in the sink so far. Once he starts eating more than just pureed veggies, we’ll probably start using the dishwasher more.

I also like that the seat material is easy to wipe down. There aren’t a lot of folds or crevices for food to get stuck in. The seat cover is not machine-washable. So far, that hasn’t been a problem for us, though. Just wiping with a baby wipe typically gets up all of the food.Chicco 5Our 6-month old son is quite long for his age, but he’s still a little guy in the seat. The harness is a bit big on him, but he can’t get out of it, and with the tray in place he is really secure. I’m not worried about it being big on him now—it just means he’ll be able to continue to fit into it well into his toddler years.

And that brings me to another thing we love about this chair: It has five different modes. It is able to be a newborn recliner, highchair, toddler booster, big kid booster and youth stool. It grows and changes right along with your kid! It’s going to be so convenient as we have more children—one child can be in the booster seat while the other uses the stool! The Progres5 recommended for use up to 36 months.Chicco 2Adjusting the backrest to the infant position has been helpful when giving him a bottle. We can lean him back slightly, and he will relax and take the bottle. This was always a fight before!

The seat can also be adjusted to different height positions easily. We really like this feature because we tend to eat either at our dining table or at our kitchen island. We go back and forth between the different heights depending on where we’re eating. It’s also really easy to roll the chair between our kitchen and our dining room.Chicco 3What I love most about the Progres5 is the ability to store it away easily. We don’t mind leaving the chair out on a regular basis because it’s not an eyesore (the colors are nice, and it’s easy to clean so it doesn’t have food stains and chunks all over it); however, when we have company I like being able to put it in a closet, so it’s out of the way. The chair folds up so easily and takes up minimal space in our closet.

Setting up the chair only took a few minutes and was so simple. Everything clicks into place, so there’s no question if it’s put together correctly or not. Once you hear the click you know everything is safely in place. We used the manual only to double-check how the seat cover was supposed to go on. The manual makes it easy to understand with text and images. I was really impressed by the quality of the chair as well. Although we didn’t need any tools to put it together, the assembled chair seems really durable while still being comfortable for our baby.Chicco 6I was pleasantly surprised by the price of the chair. We did a lot of research for highchairs when we were first looking and found that the “best” chairs were all around $300+. We justified some of the prices because the chair could be used well into toddler years or youth, but the Chicco Polly Progres5 has the same capability and is only $200. Overall, this is really affordable for what you’re getting and could make a great group gift on a baby registry!
