A few years ago, my husband and I moved to North Carolina. We knew before moving that we were about to enter basketball country, but we had no idea how active the biking scene was in that state. It didn’t take long to become enthralled in the biking world and we were excited to spend many of our weekends there biking the American Tobacco Trail with friends or cruising by Lake Jordan in the mornings. We were young and fancy-free and thought it was the best way to spend our time. Flash-forward a few years and our lives have changed a bit. We now live in a new state and have added a tiny little rider to our brood. And after a two-and-a-half year hiatus since I found out I was pregnant, we finally realized a couple of weeks ago that we could get back in the saddle (or back on the seat I should say) thanks to the help of the Yepp Mini Front Child Seat. It’s sturdy, dependable and comes in the cutest hues I’ve ever seen. Here’s the breakdown of why this product has revolutionized our riding experience and gotten us out and about for family fun.
118Ease of assembly. I did have a little help from my husband on this one. He did the out-of-the-box-onto-the-bike-part while I resolved to comment on anything I saw out of line. (It’s all about teamwork!) But he had the seat on and ready for use in less than ten minutes. And once the connector is in place on the front part of the bike, it’s super simple to slip the bike seat on or off in mere seconds. I honestly, thought it would be a much more complicated experience.
Innovative design. I’m also impressed by the manufacturing of the Yepp Mini. It’s made out of the same material as the well-known Crocs shoe brand—EVA Polymer—so you know its quality is superb and made for years of riding. But it’s also soft, water-resistant, easy to clean and does not hold in heat—which has been a problem for some of our friends and other seats they’ve chosen. It also comes with a footrest that is easily adjustable with just a few clicks. As an added bonus, I think it’s extremely lightweight.
Standout hue. The Yepp Mini comes in three standout hues: We chose the electric blue color, but the black and orange are equally as sleek and eye-catching.
yeppSafety features. There are nylon straps that help to secure my guy in the seat and they are comfortable enough not to rub his shoulders or cause him to be irritated on our trips. The best part is that the entire seat is supported by a steel frame so that baby is well-supported for the trip and free to kick until his heart’s content. I also love that there’s a security safety latch to help prevent anyone from taking the seat when we are stopped for restroom breaks or a picnic. It’s also the latch that helps the seat stayed locked into place during the ride. You can use the seat from 9 months (and when baby has proper head control) through 33 pounds or around 3 years of age.
Love of the road. Even though I love the seat so much, the most important thing is that my baby has a good time riding. He laughs and coos and points to things on the road. I love that he is right in front of me so I can see him at all times to ensure he is enjoying the trip. There are also special products you can buy to enjoy your trip even more like a windscreen, infant helmet and even purchase the Yepp Maxi and the Yepp Junior seats to keep you family riding together for years to come.
All in all, I couldn’t be more pleased with the Yepp Mini. It’s innovative design (made from the same rubber as the Crocs shoe) and standout hue make for one heck of a good-looking product and I can rest assured my tiny man is secure thanks to the tubular steel frame, shoulder straps and adjustable foot rest. I really feel like we have found the Cadillac of bike seats for our little rider.
