    Skip Hop Versa

    I have a confession to make:I'm a bargain shopper.

Idon't know if it's just my inherent nature, or the fact that my husband and I were perpetually cash-strapped graduate students for the first eight years of our marriage, but I am wooed mightily by a low price tag. So with that little admission out of the way I'm not ashamed to say that the first thing I got excited about when I scoped out the adorable SkipHop Versa was its affordability. Diaper bags, though necessary, are really more for you than for your baby, so sometimes it can feel needlessly indulgent to spend major bucks on a tote for milk-filled bottles and clothes soaked with spit-up when there are strollers and car seats and life insurance to purchase as well. At $70, though, the Versa fits easily into almost any baby gear budget.

But while I may be frugal-minded, I have some pride in my style, too. And a diaper bag is more than just a once-in-a-while accessory. You tote that sucker everywhere, from the mall to the park to church to restaurants to the airport to everywhere in between. And that is where the Versa really shines. The classy looking exterior looks just as chic with your playground attire as it does your fancy occasion ensemble. One bag to go with everything—it's the bargain shopper's dream!

Now let's talk storage. Some diaper bags are a little too pocket and compartment friendly, and end up making a simple search for a pacifier take five minutes. Not so with the Versa—it felt like it had just the right amount of organization inside and out—including two insulated pockets on the front and nine inside for helping to keep all the wet items separated from the dry ones, and to help keep your mom stuff (like your keys and cell phone) easy to find. And the best part—the part that makes the Versa “pop” for me—is the zipper down the center. One quick unzip, and your bag not only gets a new look, but it expands 20 percent as well!

All of this, plus a water-resistant lining, straps designed especially for hanging it on a stroller, and BPA-free, PVC-free, phthlalate-free guarantee make the Versa the ultimate bargain bag for this thrifty (but stylish!) gal.
