It would be crazy to review different carrier options without highlighting the always-stylish ring sling.
The long, flowing fabric is both beautiful and eye-catching, and it makes pretty good baby carrier, too! Rockin’ Baby Slings are no exception to the ring sling rules of attractive efficiency, and they have such a wide array of prints and fabrics I didn’t have a hard time finding a design (or two, or three…) I was head-over-heels for.
Rockin’ Baby Slings are so neat because of all of the options they provide for parents, and the comfort they offer their babies. The fabric is soft and has just a little bit of “give”, which provides acozy pouch for your little one without putting too much pressure on your back or shoulder. They’re also completely reversible, which may sound like an unnecessary perk, but when it comes time for dad to don the carrier, he’ll be relieved to see the neutral backing hiding behind the colorful, patterned front.
I’ll admit, ring slings aren’t for everyone. Made of one long piece of fabric, ring slings are worn by looping the fabric over your body and through an aluminum ring that sits on your shoulder—the excess material remains hanging in front. In my opinion, they’re not the easiest sling to maneuver straight out of the box (that’s a lot of fabric to get wrapped around and over your body!). However, once you get it sized and secured, it’s much easier to adjust as you see fit,especially the Rockin’ Baby Sling. It can be quickly pulled and re-adjusted to fit dad or the babysitter without ever taking it off or un-looping the fabric from the ring. It also can be worn in five different positions to match baby’s mood or developmental stage. Plus,there are a lot of nifty options posed by the leftover fabric: it makes an excellent nursing cover, a great way to block your baby from the wind and it does an impressive job of hiding a postpartum tummy! The Rockin’ Baby Sling even features a large pouch on the tail-end of the draped fabric, which is perfect for extra diapers and wipes, or even your wallet and keys.
Aside from the fact that ring slings keep your baby close and hands free, my next favorite part about the Rockin’ Baby sling is the fact that it can be used from birth all the way to 3 years of age (or 40pounds)! And since they’re machine washable, you should have no trouble keeping it clean and new-looking for that long, either.
