    Minui Handy Sitt

I recently decided that it was time for a booster seat for my 11/2 year old.

I’ve had kids in my house for so long that I’m just ready to have my real chairs back and rid my table of any extra pieces. However, since my small fry isn’t quite big enough to sit on his own, I needed something that could give him a boost without taking up a lot of space. When I saw the HandySitt and realized how simple it is to use, I was sold: The fact that I can fold it flat and store it out of sight between meals makes it, in my opinion, one of the best baby inventions of all time.

Here’s what you need to know about the HandySitt: It’s a booster seat/highchair alternative, meaning that it’s not quite like anything else out there. It’s a very simple, smart product: It unfolds effortlessly into a seat that hooks onto the back of your regular chairs and puts your little one a little higher and closer to the table. (It’s great for restaurant use as well—we always carry ours along now. It’s so much cleaner than those used-by-thousands-of-kids chairs they provide! And at 5 lbs. and with its completely flat fold, it’s a breeze to take with you.) It’s safe for kids ages 6 months to 5 years and includes a 3-point harness system. The fit is very versatile—it can be used on round-backed or square-backed chairs and works on a variety of heights. So far, we’ve only found one chair it wouldn’t work on. We took it to a dinner party some friends were having, and their dining table chairs were too tall to accommodate the HandySitt. However, they brought in a chair from their kitchen table and it worked just fine.

There’s a video on their website that shows how easy it is to set up and use. I love the design, the practicality of the seat, the price… pretty much everything about it. I would have no hesitation recommending this seat to a friend—I’ve already done so several times—and I can assure you that it won’t be leaving my house anytime soon! I plan to hang on to it for a good, long time even after my kids outgrow it so I have a seat on hand for younger kiddos that visit. And with its tiny size, I can easily just store it in my pantry and forget all about it until I need it. How’s that for convenient?

    Price: $149
