As the proud owner of a small car, I knew I needed a car seat for my little one that would fit well in my backseat but still be safe and comfy. When I pulled the Combi Coccoro out of its box, I was pretty sure I’d found a winner. And sure enough, it fits into my car just right (it’s designed to fit three across in smaller vehicles like my Toyota Corolla, so it would also be a great pick for moms of multiples!) and my son loves riding in his new Coccoro.
At only 11 pounds, this seat is simple to transport and install—another important factor for me, since we have to juggle seats around quite a bit. You can use either your vehicle’s seat belts or LATCH for installation, and color-coded belt pathways make it easier to distinguish between forward- and rear-facing pathways. It looks great, and I’ll be able to use it until my son reaches 40 pounds or 40 inches, whichever comes first. (This seat can be used rear-facing from 5 to 33 pounds, but I kept my little guy in his infant seat as long as possible, so we’ve only used it in the forward-facing position.)
The Coccoro has EPS foam and provides Tru-Safe Side Impact Protection (translation: it was designed with safety in mind), and it’s also certified for use in an aircraft (see you on Thanksgiving, grandma!). When buckling the 5-point harness, an indicator shows if you’re in the red (not good) or green (good) zone. Shoulder belt retainers are another bonus: They hold the harness open, allowing you to put baby in or take him out with ease. This is an excellent pick for a small yet effective car seat, and I’m very pleased with it. I’m looking forward to trying out other Combi products in the future!
