I’m a bit of a stroller junkie. I’ve tried really expensive strollers (I won’t name names) and really inexpensive strollers, and I’ve definitely come to realize that a higher price tag doesn’t necessarily equal a superior product. One brand I’ve come to consistently love is Chicco. They produce high-quality, well-made products at reasonable prices, and you honestly couldn’t ask for a better umbrella stroller than the Liteway.
ChiccoLitewayAs you would expect, the Liteway is light – around 17 pounds – so it’s a good pick for travel use. It is a wee bit heavier than a few umbrella-type strollers I’ve tried out, but I think it’s because it’s also a little bit sturdier (something I don’t mind lifting a couple extra pounds for). It has an aluminum frame, an easy-to-figure-out compact fold, a canopy with a peek-a-boo window, and an easy-to-access storage basket beneath the seat.
The Liteway sports a one-hand recline that lays the seat almost flat, allowing you to use it with an infant as well as a toddler. It also has a 5-point harness (another bonus for infant use). The weight limit for this stroller is 40 pounds, so you can easily use it through your little one’s preschool years. You can adjust the leg support, too, which is another plus.
I really love how easy this stroller is to steer—I’ve maneuvered our Liteway through the mall, an amusement park, and the airport all with ease. The carry strap is an awesome feature (why isn’t it standard on all strollers?) Plus, I really like the style of the Chicco: fun colors, good design (that isn’t over the top), and bold simplicity. Above all, though, I love how well this stroller functions. It fits nicely in my trunk (where it stays, for frequent on-the-go use) and always works exactly like I want and expect it to. I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend the Chicco Liteway to a friend in need of a long-term umbrella stroller.
