To be honest, I was not even in the market for a highchair.
We had a hand-me-down that was going to work, but when I was asked to review Bright Starts’ InGenuity Perfect Place High Chair, I decided to say yes. I am so glad I did! I have several other Bright Starts products, and when I saw the InGenuity Perfect Place, I knew it was for me.
Now, I understand that looks aren’t everything, but I didn’t want something unsightly that was going to be sitting out pretty much all day in my kitchen and dining area. One thing that drew me to this particular highchair was the appearance. I find it to be a very minimal design, but I liked that the wipeable fabric had a subdued print to conceal the inevitable spills. And it’s great for the bigger messes because the seat pad is machine washable.
Our hand-me-down highchair was stationary and, while nice, did not even have a removable tray. The Perfect Place highchair not only has a removable tray insert that is dishwasher safe, but it the tray itself swivels. It so easy for me to use by just swinging out the tray with one hand, accessing the little safety straps to secure baby, and locking the tray back in place. And what’s more is that the seat reclines in three positions, and there is a little foot rest that is adjustable so my little one’s feet are supported.
The chair is on casters, which makes moving it from place to place effortless. We have wood floors, and I have no qualms about rolling the seat around the kitchen. I feel secure when my baby is in the chair, too, since it has a locking feature on the wheels. If space is an issue in the kitchen, this chair easily folds up and is compact enough for me to store it if we have guests over. I just fold the stand, put the seat in the most upright position, and roll it to the closet. Once I lock the wheels, I can easily store it out of sight.
I also enjoy that this highchair has a seven-position height adjustment. We have a counter/ bar area where we eat sometimes, and I can raise the high chair so it is at counter height. Then when we move to our dining room table for other meals, I can lower the seat so our daughter can be at our level when we are eating—no matter where that may be. Since the chair itself can hold up to 50 pounds, it can be used for meals now and meals to come.
The highchair arrived disassembled, but it was amazingly simple to put together. I didn’t need the instructions, nor did I need a tool belt. I have an appreciation for how well everything is put together, and I didn’t even have to call my husband. I actually did it before he came home from work, and he was impressed. I didn’t want to tell him that it only took me about 10 or 15 minutes from box to upright high chair!
If you are looking for an affordable, good quality, easy-to-use high chair, look no further than the Bright Starts Perfect Place highchair.
