Before I was even pregnant with my son Charlie I knew that I wanted to breastfeed.

I had heard and read about all of the wonderful benefits and knew that it was something that I had to at least attempt. So as soon as I got pregnant I started reading books about breastfeeding, took a breastfeeding class, and gladly accepted advice from absolutely anyone who had something positive to say.

I have to say it wasn’t as easy as I had hoped. Apparently it’s one of those things that you learn best through experience. I found myself frustrated and sore, but still determined to breastfeed my son. One night as I was watching TLC’s 18 Kids and Counting, I noticed Michelle Duggar (mom to 18 children!) breastfeeding her youngest child. I was amazed that she was walking around a conference building with a pillow strapped to her body as she fed her baby—and she looked happy. I had not been feeling very happy in my breastfeeding experience up until this point, so I paid very close attention. Michelle was using a type of pillow that I had never seen before—I owned a breastfeeding pillow and had seen others in stores, but I had never seen one that was capable of staying attached to your body as you walked around. When I found out the pillow Michelle Duggar was using was called My Brest Friend, I decided that if a mom of 18 was using it, I needed to give it a try.

When the My Brest Friend pillow arrived on my doorstep, I couldn’t wait to unpack it and try it out, but I have to admit I was a bit skeptical. It is much more firm than any other breastfeeding pillow that I have ever seen—in fact, it didn’t seem like a pillow at all, but had a rather firm flat front. However, I soon realized that its firm flat body is part of the beauty of the product. Paired with the wrap around support, it actually keeps the baby from rolling into or away from your body and helps mommy and baby maintain an ideal position and latch-on! Hallelujah, no more unhappy baby and sore nipples from re-latching! I was hooked and so was Charlie. That in itself was enough for me to turn my old nursing pillow into a play pillow for my son, but I found there were many other great benefits as well.

One of the main differences in My Brest Friend and your average sleeping pillow or breastfeeding pillow is that My Brest Friend wraps all the way around your body and actually stays there. If you’ve experienced back pain from breastfeeding (I definitely did in the beginning) then you’ll love the wrap around support which relieves some of that uncomfortable neck and back soreness. Also, the arm and elbow rests eliminate shoulder stress, making breastfeeding much more comfortable and easier, which explains why Michelle Duggar looked so cheerful. Who would have thought…you take away the sore nipples and back pain and breastfeeding is convenient and joyful!

Some of My Brest Friend’s other features include a comfy cover and an adjustable silent release strap. I also love the convenient pocket, which I have found is great for storing my nursing necklace and a burp cloth. This is one of the products that I left off my baby registry but will definitely be recommending to my new mommy friends. No wonder My Brest Friend is the number 1 choice of lactation consultants and mommies of 18. Thank you, Michelle Duggar, for introducing me to My Brest Friend!
