    mamaRoo

The mamaRoo is so incredibly smart, you just know moms were involved in its conception. I mean really, it seems like they thought of everything!

The mamaRoo is so incredibly smart, you just know moms were involved in its conception. I mean really, it seems like they thought of everything!

Its electronic motions aren’t like those made by any other infant seat. It really rocks and bounces just as I would when holding my baby, moving side to side, front to back and even in circular patterns. And the musical options aren’t random lullaby instrumentals but soothing white noise instead; plus, it’s mp3 compatible, so baby can listen to whatever I feel like downloading.

The overhead toys (three plush balls featuring famous works of art by Van Gogh, Monet and Seurat) can be switched from black and white when baby is tiny to bold-colored art when his eyes develop a bit more. Assembly and cleanup are no problem; the instructions are very helpful on those points. The seat fabric isn’t plush, so it helps to throw on a blanket for naptime coziness, but I do like that baby won’t be overheated.

5 is the magic number with the mamaRoo:

    • 5 motion patterns (Car Ride, Kangaroo, Tree Swing, Rock-A-Bye and Ocean Wave)

    • 5 speed settings

    • 5 white noise nature sounds

It is worth noting that the mamaRoo doesn't seem to be intended for frequent relocation. Although it's not super heavy, It's more of a sturdy fixture than, say, a flimsy wire-and-cloth bouncer that constantly travels from room to room. This chair needs to be plugged into the wall:This means avoiding the hassle of batteries, but it also means you'll want to keep it indoors and fairly close to an outlet.
