You guys!!! Do you remember my post a few weeks back where my best friend from college birthed her little one on the eve of Hurricane Harvey?
Here he is! Official name: Alexander, but he goes by Xander. Cutest little thing ever.
I drove my 36 week pregnant tushy all the way to Houston and back (about four and a half hours one way) for 24 hours of tiny baby love, and it was the BEST! He made himself very comfortable all laid out on my lap, while his first friend kicked him in the back through my belly.
We had our last Bradley Method class, and then a Birth Day Party afterward with all of our classmates. It was such an informative journey, and I’m so glad we signed up for the class! If you’re interested in a natural birth (or even just lots of info on birthing in general!) I highly recommend finding a class in your area.
One of the last things we learned was to watch our pets. Animals, being as sensitive as they are, can sense our changing hormones before we can. Our doula-teacher said, “If your animals suddenly won’t leave your side, keep an eye out for increased contractions and signs of labor.” So, of course, now I’m freaked out every time one of our dogs lays down next to me. (Which is ALL THE TIME because they’re Mama’s Dogs, but I digress.)
I start my weekly prenatal appointments this week, and start my official maternity leave on Monday! This whole “having a baby SOON” thing is getting really, really real.
