Happy anniversary to us! My husband and I have officially reached two years of married life. We just got home from our anniversary date full of fondue goodness. Any restaurant that I can stuff my pregnant face full of cheese, veggies, and chocolate-covered pound cake is alright by me!
Did you know that the two-year gift is traditionally cotton? We have made it a point to follow these guidelines so far. It makes the gift giving a little funnier, a little kookier and a little sweeter. I packed his gift bag with dozens of cotton balls instead of tissue paper. I crack myself up! They went everywhere while he was opening the present.
My stepson had his eighth birthday this week. What a grownup! Since we share custody, we actually had his birthday party with all of his friends a few weeks ago, and on his actual birthday, we saw him for about three hours. We took him to play arcade games, and it turns out he’s a master at ski-ball!
In baby news, (what you’re all here for, am I right?) I finally felt baby! Hip, hip, hooray! If you remember, I was diagnosed with an anterior placenta. That means my placenta is about where my belly button is, rather than on the back side of my uterus near my spine. The OB who did my anatomy scan said that it could be 24-25 weeks before I felt baby move, but 20 weeks was the magic number!
I know most people go on and on about how cool it is to feel the baby and how much they look forward to it. But y’all. I’m going to be honest … I was freaked out by the thought of feeling a tiny baby human move around on his own accord inside my uterus.
Mother Nature sure knows what she’s doing. Those first little movements are so gentle, soft and way less frightening than I had worked them up in my head to be. I can already feel his patterns of when he wakes up, when he falls asleep and when he wakes back up.
Pregnancy is so cool!
